Modern TVs nowadays have technology that can increase the rate to 120 Hz (120 frames per second) or even 240 Hz in the case of 1080p HD TVs. Keeping a monitor’s refresh rate set at 60 Hz to 90 Hz is best for most. It refers to the number of frames a television can show per second. It’s measured in Hertz, which is a unit of frequency.

That’s why expensive monitors designed for gaming advertise high rates like 144 Hz or 240 Hz, which is a big step up from the typical PC display’s 60 Hz refresh rate.
