The most important devices you can use to help with your life is a smartphone They’re always at hand which means they’re always at risk for potentially damaging drops.
In addition, these devices are getting thinner and their surfaces larger, with many featuring glass-backs, as well, glasses so-called Gorilla Glass that provide protection of our friend (Smartphone) But we don’t know how gorilla glass made of?
In this article, you will know everything about Gorilla Glass. However, Gorilla Glass is a brand of chemically strengthened glass developed and manufactured by Corning, now in its sixth generation, designed to be thin, light and damage-resistant.
It is unique to Corning, but also other brands are including AGC Inc. Dragontrail and Schott AGXensation too. Consequently, It is used to protect the screens of tablets, smartphone and other mobile devices is manufactured in Harrodsburg, Kentucky, the US; Asia, Korea; and Taiwan.

In the next, you will know about How it is Made of?

How Gorilla Glass Made of?
Gorilla Glass is made from chemically strengthened alkali-aluminosilicate which is formed by bonding aluminium, silicon and oxygen together.
Once the glass has been manufactured, it is dipped in a bath of molten salt. Potassium ions from the salt bath are exchanged for smaller sodium ions in the glass. During its manufacture, the glass is toughened by ion exchange.

The material is immersed in a molten alkaline potassium salt at a temperature of approximately 400 °C (750 °F), wherein smaller sodium ions in the glass are replaced by larger potassium ions from the salt bath.
The larger ions occupy more volume and thereby create a surface layer of high residual compressive stress, giving the glass surface increased strength, ability to contain flaws, and overall crack-resistance, making it resistant to damage from everyday use.
Gorilla Glass was first implemented in a mobile device screen in 2007, in the original iPhone.
The first generation of the product launched in 2007, followed by Gorilla Glass 2 in 2012 and Gorilla Glass 3 in 2013 and now Gorilla Glass 6 was announced in 2018, marking the latest version of the popular scratch-resistant glass for smartphones and tablets.
The second generation was 20% thinner than the first model. It could hold up to 50 kg of pressure without cracking or breaking. The third generation prevented up to 35% of the scratches on the display.
Finally, Gorilla Glass 5, offers similar scratch resistance to Gorilla Glass 4, but is 1.8 times more durable in drop tests and focused on providing even more resistance to drops, and can prevent cracks in up to 80% of falls onto extremely hard surfaces at the height of 1 meter.

What about Gorilla Glass 6?
According to Corning, It can resist up to 15 drops from a 1-meter height. As stated above, Corning uses a new composition to increase drop resistance without compromising on scratch resistance.
